Good Works Review

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

ATTENTION! Submissions are closed for this year's issue. We will reopen at the end of the year.

The following guidelines are for Good Works Review (GWR), not for book manuscript submissions to FutureCycle Press. If book submission is your intent, please click here to review the book submission guidelines.

**********

Good Works Review reads submissions year round and considers poems, short fiction, literary essays, and black and white artwork of all styles and subjects, except pornography. We consider general submissions as well as special themes inserted as sections of our annual publication. See the categories and deadlines below (if any) for themes we are currently considering. General submissions may be submitted at any time.

GWR appears in print and Kindle formats once per year, usually in December. We donate all proceeds from each issue to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Please send work you are proud of, carefully crafted and polished.

We consider simultaneous submissions provided that you notify us immediately if any works from your submission are accepted elsewhere.

Previously published work is considered only if it has not appeared online and in print within the past 10 years. Please indicate where and when the work was published. The exception to this rule, as noted, is for some of our thematic sections.

Submit no more than six poems, three flash fictions (each 1000 words max), one short story or essay (max 7500 words), or six black-and-white pieces of art per submission.

Please wait until we have responded before submitting again.

Submit via our online system only (Submittable).

Files submitted must be in one of the following <strong>file formats</strong>: Word (DOC or DOCX), Rich Text Format (RTF), or Open Office (ODT). We also accept video submissions (YouTube-compatible) from contributors of current or previous issues of our print edition (see specific guidelines on the Videos option below).

Submittable accounts are free, and you can create an account during the submission process, or you can also log in to your current account.

Please do not query the status of your submission unless it is past 90 days.

We cannot offer payment at this time, including contributor copies, but we give our contributors a very deep discount on the printed edition in which their work appears. We do offer contributors a free copy of the Kindle ebook edition.
